Visit by IMechE (UK) Representative

Ms. Farah Baksh, Global Relationship Manager of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), United Kingdom, together with officers of the IMechE Sri Lanka Branch, visited the Engineering Council Sri Lanka (ECSL) on 14th May 2026.

During the visit, discussions were held on potential areas of collaboration between IMechE and ECSL, with particular focus on initiatives to support the professional development, capacity building, and international exposure of Sri Lankan engineers. Both parties expressed interest in strengthening cooperation to enhance professional standards and promote global best practices within the engineering sector in Sri Lanka.

Meeting with RDA Technical Officers

A meeting was held on 2nd February 2023 with trade union representatives of the Technical Officers Union of Road Development Authority.

It was discussed the problems faced by the  Technical Officers in RDA for the registration in the ECSL. This also affected for their promotions. Chairman requested some information from them to further study the matter.

Electrical Safety Discussion at Jaic Hilton, Colombo, arranged by IESL Electrical Sectional Committee

A seminar was held on 1st February at Jaic Hilton Colombo on “Electrical safety in Low Voltage Customer Premises.

This seminar was organized by the Electrical Sectional Committee of IESL. The resource person was Mr. Gopa Kumar , The Managing Director, Cape Electric (Pvt) Ltd. India.

The following were discussed;

Introduction of standards.

Fundamental safety standards.

Selection of items for electrical installation.

Technical requirements for Medical, Solar Power systems and Electrical Vehicle Charging Systems.
